Fernando Garcia is the General Counsel for Nissan Canada Inc. and Infiniti Canada. In this capacity, Fernando is responsible for managing the Canadian legal department and providing legal advice relating to Nissan and Infiniti’s operations across all levels of the company. The legal department consists of six legal professionals and is responsible for all contract, litigation, and regulatory matters relating to Nissan and Infiniti Canada’s sales and marketing operations in Canada.
Fernando’s function also includes responsibilities for Government Affairs and Corporate Compliance. He has held this role for a very long time, and prior to this, he held the role of General Counsel and Director of Human Resources at Navistar Canada. He is passionate about diversity and inclusiveness within the legal profession and within society, as well as the important role that the intersect between technology and law is having and will continue to increasingly have in our legal practice.
Fernando completed his MBA from Wilfrid Laurier University, with specialization in Strategic Management. He has both Civil and Common Law degrees from McGill University, Montreal; a Master’s in Industrial Relations from the University of Toronto; and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Labor Studies from McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
Fernando lives by the motto: “Many have dreams, but few are willing to work hard, play hard, but still hang on to their principles and values in order to achieve those dreams.”
Greatly involved with his community, Fernando enjoys speaking and writing about the advancement of diversity and inclusiveness within the legal profession as also impact of technology on the legal profession across Canada and the globe. Fernando has received several honors.
