Puneet R. Kundal is currently Minister (Commerce), Embassy of India, Washington, DC. His work experience spans across various sectors, including the Indian Foreign Service in 1996; Third Secretary/Second Secretary, Embassy of India, Cairo (1998-2000); First Secretary, Embassy of India, Muscat (2000-2003); Deputy Secretary handling relations with Bangladesh in the Ministry of External Affairs (2003-2006); Counselor, Embassy of India, Brussels, Belgium (2006-2009); Counselor, Embassy of India, Kathmandu (2009-2012); Director/Joint Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs (2012-2014); Consul General of India to Cape Town, South Africa (2014-2017); and Presently Minister (Commerce), Embassy of India, Washington, DC since July 2017.
Puneet holds a BE (Hons.) in Civil Engineering from BITS Pilani (1989-1993); MA (Sociology) from JNU New Delhi (1993-1995); MA (Human Rights) from Indian Institute for Human Rights (2007-2009); and Intermediate-level course in Arabic language from American University in Cairo (1998-2000).
Puneet’s interest in Running, Reading, Swimming, and Travelling has enabled him to become a recipient of several certificates in Debating and Sports; Gold Medals in Weight Lifting and Body Building; and Gold Medal and Human Rights Scholars Award at 14th World Human Rights Congress, held on December 10th, 2013.
