Bishwarup Chakrabarti is General Counsel at Eros Media World PLC, where he oversees legal compliance, regulatory functions, and the legal affairs of the company’s OTT platform. Previously, he led legal and regulatory affairs at Sony Pictures Networks, where he oversaw scripted and unscripted television productions across Hindi and regional GECs, the OTT platform SonyLIV, animation, gaming integrations, as well as the award-winning studio vertical and Studio Next. He has also worked with leading studios such as Viacom18, bringing nearly two decades of experience in intellectual property, media, entertainment, and technology. Before that he worked as a litigation counsel and registered patent attorney at leading law firms, representing multinational corporations in complex disputes across pharmaceuticals, automotive, infrastructure, securities, antitrust, and intellectual property.

Alongside his core practice, he has cultivated a strong interest in the fast-evolving domain of data privacy in India. His work in IP litigation has earned him recognition from The Legal 500 as a leading lawyer, with commendations for his expertise in contentious matters. He has also been actively involved in public policy, contributing to government consultations through industry associations and expert panels. His contributions have addressed a wide range of issues, including amendments to the Copyright Act and Patents Act, as well as the recommendations of the Shyam Benegal Committee on film censorship and certification. He is a frequent speaker at industry conferences, sharing insights on regulatory and policy issues. An alumnus of the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, he completed his legal education there.
