Hon’ble Mrs. Justice Surepalli Nanda, Judge of the High Court for the State of Telangana, was born on 4 April 1969 in Hyderabad. She holds a B.A. in English Literature from Osmania University and an LL.B. from VSR Law College, Bellary. Enrolled as an advocate in 1993, she practised extensively in constitutional, civil, criminal, labour, revenue and service matters, with specialization in Constitutional Law and writ jurisdiction.
She served as Standing Counsel for the Bar Council of India for over two decades and held several legal assignments, including Central Government Counsel, Special Counsel for NIMS and Standing Counsel for NIRDPR. A committed advocate for legal aid, she served the Legal Services Authorities in various capacities and trained panel lawyers across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
In 2021, she became the first woman designated Senior Advocate by the Telangana High Court after its establishment. She was elevated as a permanent Judge on 24 March 2022. She has authored over 720 reported judgments and has contributed significantly to judicial administration and access to justice.
