Nitin Sharma is a seasoned professional with over 28 years of experience in Software and Wireless Communication, specializing in engineering, product lifecycle management, and intellectual property. As the Sr. Director, Technology and Patent Counsel at Qualcomm India, he leads key Intellectual Property initiatives, including managing Indian patent applications, contributing to the development of a global patent portfolio focused on 5G/6G and AI/ML technologies, and performing patent infringement analyses. He also works closely with litigation teams, offering strategic insights on complex legal and technical issues.

Deeply engaged with emerging technologies, Nitin remains at the forefront of advancements in 5G/6G and AI, applying this knowledge to strengthen Qualcomm’s long-term IP strategy. He actively mentors technology startups through initiatives like Qualcomm Design in India and Qualcomm Women Entrepreneurs in Technology, and promotes IP awareness through programs for startups, Technology Transfer Offices, and engineering institutions. He further supports the L2Pro India platform, which delivers high-quality IP learning resources.

Beyond his work at Qualcomm, Nitin contributes to IPR policy advocacy and innovation management, holding leadership roles in industry bodies such as ASSOCHAM, GLIPA, Licensing Executives Society India, and FICCI. His academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering, LLB, LLM, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Patents Law from NALSAR, and he is a registered Indian Patent Agent as well as a Senior Member of IEEE.
