Abhayan Jawaharlal is the Global General Counsel of Dr. Reddy’s, bringing three decades of comprehensive legal experience spanning both top-tier law firms and multinational corporations. With a career deeply rooted in the pharma and biotech sectors, he has developed extensive expertise in intellectual property, corporate law, regulatory compliance, and strategic legal advisory.

Before joining Dr. Reddy’s, Abhayan served as Deputy Global General Counsel at Cipla, where he played a key role in global legal strategy, cross-border transactions, and regulatory initiatives. Prior to that, he headed the Group Legal function at Biocon, contributing significantly to the company’s growth by guiding complex commercial, compliance, and policy matters.

Abhayan’s early career was shaped at leading IP law firms including DePenning & DePenning and K&S Partners, where he built strong foundations in intellectual property rights, technology law, and litigation. His 20 years of experience within multinational organizations have further strengthened his capability to navigate global legal frameworks, manage risk, and support business transformation.

In addition to transactional and M&A work, Abhayan focuses on compliance, data privacy, and litigation management. He actively engages with industry associations and contributes to corporate affairs and policy advocacy, supporting the advancement of the broader life sciences sector.
